Alliance of Filipino Nursing Professionals
in Canada

(formerly Philippine Nurses Association of Canada)

The Alliance of Filipino Nursing Professionals in Canada (AFNPC) gathers Filipino-Canadian nurses together towards the common goal of developing leadership capacity through mentorship in all sectors of the Canadian and global health systems.

A Step Forward, Intact Vision and Mission

Dear Esteemed Members and Supporters,

I hope this message finds you well.

The Philippine Nurses Association Canada (PNAC) has undergone a name change. Moving forward, we will now be known as the Alliance of Filipino Nursing Professionals in Canada (AFNPC).

This decision to change our name was to ensure distinctiveness and clarity in how our organization is represented. Our aim was to make sure that our identity stands out prominently amidst the varied array of nursing associations. While our name may have changed, I want to emphasize that our mission, vision, and dedication to serving our community remain steadfast.

As the founding President of AFNPC, it is my honor to lead this association alongside our talented team of Filipino nurse leaders and academics from across Canada. Our goal remains unchanged: to enhance the profile and celebrate the exceptional contributions of Filipino nurses to healthcare and nursing in Canada and beyond.

Optimizing the potential of Filipino nurses through mentorship, professional development, and expansion of networks continues to be central to our mission. We are committed to working collaboratively with other organizations to amplify our collective voice and bring recognition to the invaluable work of Filipino nurses.

Reflecting on my personal journey, I have seen firsthand the importance of diversity in nursing leadership and academia. It became clear to me that while Filipino nurses were overrepresented in numbers, there was a noticeable lack of representation in higher positions. Let's unite in our efforts to ensure that the future of nursing includes fair representation of Filipino nurses across all facets of our profession."

My heartfelt gratitude to our current members for their unwavering support. Your dedication and talents have been instrumental in our journey so far. I extend a warm invitation to all who may be considering membership. We welcome your participation, in contributing your unique talents and perspectives to our community. Let us work together to forge promising pathways for Filipino nurses in Canada and beyond.

Sincerely,

Freida
